Learn about time

Time is a resource that can be controlled only by you. At first it may sound like others are the ones who are in charge of your time, but in fact you are the one who manage your own time. Time is available to all people exactly the same. It cannot be saved nor can be renewed. Once it is gone, it is gone, unlike money, love, health, etc.

I am going to school for chiropractic care which is a very intensive program (everyday from 6 am to 6 pm), and if I do not know how to manage my time, I would be in real trouble. So, I searched a lot and read a lot about the topic of time management because it would help me to be successful in college and in life, in general. I learned that one of the most important elements of time management is not putting off. I learned that I can stop procrastination by creating goals that excite me. Also, I must say no to the activities that I know I would never do them, instead of procrastinating them. I learned to do the least interesting activities first and that to give myself short breaks between my study sessions or any lengthy activities. For example, if I have to study for 9 hours, it would be better to split it into 3 study sessions and 2 or 3 breaks. In other words, I should study for 3 hours then take a break then continue another three hours and so on.

If you are a student, you can apply the knowledge you gain from this topic to school. I am sure there has been times when you rushed to finish a project or when you did not find time for an activity that was important to you. To avoid such outcomes in the future, follow my advice: monitor and plan your time.

First, you need to consciously know how you spend your time. Then, begin to keep recording your time for a week. At first, you may be disappointed about where your time went, but then you can use those feelings as motivation to plan your time differently and more effectively.

Learn about yourself

The first step to discovering self is telling the truth to you about yourself. If you have an accurate view about your strengths and weaknesses, you will be more likely to go up on the ladder of success. However, if you deny your real self, you will be and stay in trouble. For some people, it is hard to admit that they have a problem or weakness. For others, it is not easy to recognize their strengths. We all can begin our work by looking at and acknowledging our flows, mistakes, regrets, as well as our accomplishments, and celebrating them all. Because once we know something is there, then, we can do something about it.

Throughout my life, I learned that I should look at myself with a good open eye, that I would better not criticize myself harshly and yet not ignore anything that is about me and happening to me. I learned that it is very effective to be specific about what I plan to achieve and get a big picture view of me which will help me to be successful in college, workplace, social environment, and personal interactions. The more I know about myself without judging, the more successful I can be.

Everyone can apply this topic to school. For example, if you are not a good note taker, you can improve it by first acknowledging it and also by making it a small deal, not a big deal. Then, you can tell yourself: “I have no idea how to take notes in class, but I can improve my note taking skills by practicing more, reading and writhing more”. This topic is also very helpful in any social interactions and any personal habits you have and want to improve. Just know yourself better.

Learn that you are rich

Have you ever ponder about how wealthy you are? Did you know that you are already rich? Yes! Just look back; look at many years ago before you were even born; look at the royal families who lived many centuries ago. Did they have all the things that you now own? Did they have internet, computer, cell phone, technology, good transportation, smooth roads, camera to capture the moment, and many others? They even had diseases that are now curable, but back then those were deadly diseases. The average life expectancy was 40. They could not enjoy life as much as we can nowadays because they were dead soon. And guess what! You have these entire plus much more. You live in an era when the life expectancy is 102 years of age, and you have a chance to see your grand-grand-children. Therefore, it is a good idea to sometimes go back and look at how people lived in the past to appreciate our own resources more. Also, we can and should look back to see how much improvements we have had over the years and appreciate our own success.

Learn how to choose your wedding dress

These days, we have a lot of possibilities as women and brides when it comes to choosing the wedding dresses, however, if we are not careful and do not know our body types, it can create confusion to us because of so many choices available. This is basically the reason why many women—at least those who are planning to get married and wear a wedding dress—should be learning. They need to learn about what the most suitable dress type is for them. They should start learning early to avoid too much confusion when the big day arrives.

Learning how to choose your wedding gown is a must for ladies and brides. Here are the things to consider before shopping for your wedding dress:

We have different body types and shapes, therefore, our needs are different when it comes to dresses. We should choose a dress that best fits us, enhances our body curves beautifully, and matches our body type. There are many different dress cuts out there which not all of them are suitable for us. They include straight dresses that have revealing and daring cuts and highlight the shape of the body, A-line princess dresses that are perfect for women who want to hide something from their bust line down to their toes, empire dresses which are practically an A-line dress except for the seam that is strategically placed under the bust line to emphasize that area more, strapless dresses which are designed to reveal the neck and shoulder areas, mermaid dresses that are designed to fit from the waist area to the knees then it comes with stylish flair down to the ankles, and ball gown dresses that are practically two-piece items including a full skirt and fitted or corseted bodice.

To avoid choosing wrong wedding dresses, there are many considerations brides-to-be must ponder upon. The first thing among these considerations is the body type. Knowing your own body type is very important because it will determine if you would or would not look good in your dress. Since not all women are created with perfect body figure, it is best to know your body type to avoid highlighting your not-so-pleasant "assets."

For women who possess an hourglass figure, ideal wedding dresses are bodices with corsets or two-piece items such as ball gowns to give emphasis to their curves. Wedding dresses that have something that would highlight the waist of the bride are also ideal.

For women who are pear shaped, one of the perfect options is Princess cut dresses with A-line cut. This is very ideal because the style will hide the full hips and will highlight the torso as well as the bust area of the bride.

Petite women should avoid ball gowns as well as wedding dresses with mermaid cut because these only overwhelm the natural shape of the body. Wedding dresses for women who have petite frame should be those that have simple cuts and simple fabric type to make them look taller and slender.

For tall women, ideal wedding dresses are A- line cut, princess line cut, ball gowns, mermaid style, and straight dresses. They should avoid empire line dresses because these can overemphasize their tall frame and can be too overwhelming, especially when paired with small accessories.

For women who have full waist, princess-cut dresses are the best because these flatter the curves of the waist.

Women who have broad shoulders should avoid wearing wedding dresses that are off-the-shoulder and halter types because these will only make the broad shoulder broader. Opt for wedding dresses that do not have straps or those that have scoop necklines to enhance the shoulder and wear accessories or jewelry that have intricate designs.

Brides that have flat bust should choose wedding dresses that have square or scoop necklines that will emphasize their bust area.

Learn about ballet dance

Ballet is one of the difficult dances that a person could ever perform because the dance itself requires not only physical strength but also skills, years of practice, and discipline. Since the dance is hard to master, ballerinas are trained very early to develop the physique and discipline needed for the dance.

If you are one of those who are planning to learn ballet, you must first assess yourself physically, emotionally, and financially if you can cope up with the demands of the dance. Once you have decided that you can manage in all of these aspects, then the next thing to do is familiarize yourself with everything about it.

Knowing the origin of something is very helpful in making decisions. This is also applicable in ballet. Before you finally decide to get involved with ballet, make sure that you are familiar with its history, so you will have general knowledge about everything that has to do with it.

Aside from the history, you should also be knowledgeable in the preparation a ballet dancer must gear up for. Although many people say that passion and dedication will make it possible for you to become a ballet dancer, having innate talent and light body will make it more possible for you to become a great ballet dancer.

Along with training, you must also familiarize yourself with various ballet techniques and styles, so you would know what to expect. Usually, these techniques and styles in ballet would require rigorous training and practice for you to be able to perfect the steps needed for the dance. I am going to share with you some tips before taking ballet classes.

The most common routine done in a ballet class is the barre exercise. Warm ups through stretching and several steps and movements are practiced on wooden sprung floors. To make the training and the practice easier for you, try these ballet tips before your class:

1. Stretching. Just like in any other sport or dance, stretching is very crucial because it prepares the body for harder exercises ahead. When you stretch of as long as you can, your muscles will loosen up and your posture will be elongated. Aside from stretching before the class, make sure that you do post class stretching to loosen up tightened muscles during the training. Stretching does not only eases the pain but also makes your body more flexible.

2. Familiarizing yourself with the vocabulary used in ballet. This is also important because it will reflect how much knowledge you have about the dance. Although it will not really affect your ballet skills, knowing the terms used in ballet will prevent you from getting overwhelmed during the class. What you can do is to read ballet terminologies from various resources such as dictionary, magazines, books, and online sites.

3. Taking time to find the right ballet slippers. The ballet shoes or slippers can greatly affect your overall training because the comfort of the feet is involved. When buying ballet shoes, make sure that they are made by a professional or endorsed by a specific ballet school or famous ballet dancer.

4. Learning the five basic positions in barre. This is very important to avoid embarrassment and possible injury. The five basic positions include turning your feet together at the heels, parting your foot apart, placing the your heel at the first knuckle of the big toe, placing the feet apart for at least six inches, and putting the heel on top of the big toe. Once you familiarize yourself with these basic barre positions, training will be easier and less exhausting for you.
